Description:
Foracort 100 Inhaler is a combination inhalation therapy used for the maintenance treatment of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It contains two active ingredients: Budesonide, an inhaled corticosteroid, and Formoterol Fumarate, a long-acting bronchodilator. Together, they work synergistically to reduce airway inflammation and relax the airway muscles, providing long-term relief from symptoms such as wheezing, chest tightness, coughing, and shortness of breath.
Therapeutic Uses:
Long-term management of bronchial asthma
Maintenance treatment of COPD, including chronic bronchitis and emphysema
Prevention of respiratory exacerbations and control of chronic symptoms
Mechanism of Action:
Budesonide reduces inflammation in the airways by suppressing the activity of inflammatory cells and mediators.
Formoterol Fumarate relaxes the bronchial smooth muscles through selective beta-2 receptor stimulation, leading to sustained bronchodilation and improved airflow.
Dosage Form:
Metered-Dose Inhaler (MDI)
Strength:
Each actuation delivers Budesonide 100 mcg and Formoterol Fumarate 6 mcg
Prescription Status:
Prescription-only medication
Note:
Foracort 100 Inhaler is intended for daily maintenance therapy and is not suitable for immediate relief of acute asthma symptoms. Patients should have a fast-acting bronchodilator available for rescue use. Mouth rinsing after use is recommended to prevent oral thrush. Always use under medical supervision and as directed.
