Budesonide Capsules - Powder for Inhalation IP

Budesonide Capsules - Powder for Inhalation IP

Description:
Budesonide Capsules are a corticosteroid medication used for the prevention and long-term management of asthma symptoms, such as wheezing, shortness of breath, and chest tightness. Known as a “preventer” medicine, Budesonide helps reduce inflammation and swelling in the airways, thereby decreasing the frequency and severity of asthma attacks. However, it is not intended for the immediate relief of acute asthma symptoms, and patients should always have a fast-acting “reliever” inhaler available for sudden breathing difficulties.

Therapeutic Uses:

Maintenance treatment of bronchial asthma

Prevention of asthma exacerbations and chronic airway inflammation

Mechanism of Action:
Budesonide works by suppressing the inflammatory response in the lungs. It reduces the release of inflammatory mediators, decreases airway hyperresponsiveness, and prevents mucus buildup, thus helping to keep the airways open and reduce asthma symptoms over time.

Dosage Form:
Capsule (typically intended for inhalation via a compatible device)

Prescription Status:
Prescription-only medication

Note:
Budesonide should be used regularly and consistently as prescribed by a healthcare provider. It is not a rescue medication and should not be used to treat acute asthma attacks. Mouth rinsing after use is recommended to prevent oral fungal infections.
